Bowen Technique

What is Bowen?

Originally from Australia, it was developed  by the late Tom Bowen, it has since flourished and spread world-wide to Highland Perthshire.

It is a non-invasive, holistic therapy consisting of a sequence of gentle moves over muscles and soft tissue, which can be carried out through light clothing.
During the treatment, pauses of several minutes are important to allow the body to absorb and respond to the moves.

How can Bowen help me?

Bowen treats your whole body, not just the presenting symptoms, prompting your body to redress physical imbalances, re-alignment and heal injuries, promoting relief from pain and renewal of energy.

Usually two or three treatments are required to bring about long term relief, making it cost effective. Treatments at regular intervals provide stress management and health maintenance.

Conditions which have responded to Bowen

Bowen has a very broad spectrum of application, including  back pain, sciatica, knee and ankle problems, respiratory problems, frozen shoulder, whiplash, migraine, IBS, fertility matters, stress and anxiety. This list is by no means exhaustive. One of the unique things about Bowen is its adaptability. It has helped many people to lead more active lives, often enabling them to return to work after a lengthy absence.

Who will benefit from Bowen?

Men, women and children of all ages. It can help to improve the quality of life for the terminally ill and to relieve the symptoms of infantile colic.

Client Comments

Back  Pain        Male aged 35yrs , Pitlochry
I was very sceptical during my first treatment, I am use to heavy duty massage, couldn’t imagine how this light touch could do any good. When my treatment was finished I felt that my whole body was so heavy, which was a surprise, as I didn’t think that much had been done. After Two treatments and advise about exercise, I have no more pain!

Frozen Shoulder       Female aged 65yrs, Blair Atholl
I was in so much pain I couldn’t move my arm in any direction. In desperation I tried Bowen. After the first treatment I could move my arm slightly and the pain had started to decrease. Two further treatments and I now have full use of my arm and no pain.
